Another Redesign

When I originally updated this WordPress blog to the current version I created a new theme to go along with it.  That theme was quick and easy but in the back my mind I always wanted to use it as a jump start to something more polished.  Since I had plenty of free time this weekend with the New Year break, I was able to browse for inspiration.

This new theme isn’t completely finished but I wanted to get it uploaded and running before the new work week starts.  I stayed with the basic framework of the blog entry left, blog navigation right and main navigation top.  Hopefully I’ll find time to finish it all up.

Detroit Auto

Quick thoughts…

  • I’m not in favor of the US automotive bailout.  I understand the industry has a profound effect on our culture and economy but what industry doesn’t?  After we boil it all down the Big Three can’t produce automobiles that can compete with the imports – even with a healthy price advantage.   A bailout is delaying the inevitable.  Allocate the money towards helping people buy these sad inventories of lowest bid parts assembled cars.  Trickle the money up, not down so when GM, Ford, and Chrysler fail again, at least there will be a shit ton of cars for mechanics to keep themselves busy with.
  • The Buffalo Bills are the Buffalo Bills.  Just when you think that moving out of Buffalo will cause them to actually compete with the rest of the NFL.  They remind us that it doesn’t matter where go, they’ll always find a way to flop.  That’s Buffalo sports.  Always.
  • Was the Wild West really that wild?  Is life more dangerous now than it was then?

Emotionally Torn

I don’t think I’ve ever been so emotionally torn before:

Bawahahahaha!

I happen to miss this portion of the Couric interview with Sarah Palin.  WAIT TOWARDS THE END!  Enjoy…

WordPress 2.6.2

Tonight I decided to upgrade to the most current stable release of WordPress. I didn’t realize how far I let my blog go with the old version but luckily everything went smooth and I only had one minor heart skip by not transferring my old config settings to the new config file.

Blizzcon 08

This blog entry is being written while en-route to LAX.  Our flight was scheduled to leave at 7:15 but because of a maintenance issue we were stuck waiting for a comprehensive protocol check to make sure everything was okay.  I’m not sure exactly how long we sat but we have to be at least an hour behind scheduled.  Luckily there’s a spare seat between me and the other passenger Tony so we both have room to keep our legs stretched.  We’re flying Virgin America which seems very nice.  While waiting on the tarmac I toyed around the touch screen entertainment system that Virgin calls “Red”.  It’s installed on in the back of the head rest in front of you where you can watch TV, movies or listen to music and even play video games.  At this point some features are unavailable but a clear pop-up says to check back “the next time you fly”.  Some of the unavailable features are read, shop, and talk which gives you the option of “seat to seat chat”, “email & text message” and even a “chat room.”  There’s even an AC outlet for you plug into underneath your seat so if your laptop battery can’t make the long flight then no worries. Whenever they completely implement all these features, it should make the flight almost homey or at the very least allow you to pass the time better.  Overall, besides that delay, Virgin America seems destined to take-off, no pun intended.  I would definitely recommend it.

Blizzcon 08

Tomorrow morning I leave for socal to attend Blizzcon as a vendor. It will be my first work related convention and It just so happens to be one of the most anticipated and hardest to get in to. It should be interesting. I’ll try and blog about my experience.

Town Hall Debate

What a snoozer of a debate.  Although we heard different questions we ended up hearing the same answers.  It’s like they watched the tapes from the last debate and decided to clear up any messages that weren’t delivered concisely.

Another thing that bothers me is how candidates are afraid to adapt to our current financial crisis which, in my opinion, is based on a fear they would be labeled a “flip-flopper”.  Simply ridiculous considering both candidates are saying this is the biggest crisis since The Great Depression.

That’s it, I’m going to bed.

Bang

On Monday morning I arrived at work – an hour later my car looked like it got ran over by a monster truck.  Although I’m exaggerating, the car is currently at the body shop waiting to get assessed but from the sounds of it might be repairable.  Doh!  Once I get a hold of the photos that were taken, I’ll post them for all to see.
